About Ani DiFranco

Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria DiFranco in Buffalo, New York, September 23, 1970) is an American-Canadian folk rock and alternative artist whose signature sound blends punk, funk, jazz and spoken-word lyricism. Known for songs like “32 Flavors,” “Both Hands,” “Revolutionary Love,” and “Little Plastic Castle,” she’s released 23 studio albums, most recently “Unprecedented Sh!t” (May 2024). Creator of Righteous Babe Records, she’s won a Grammy for Best Recording Package, the A2IM Lifetime Achievement Award (2017), and the John Lennon “Real Love” Award (2021). Her collaborators include Utah Phillips, Bon Iver, and Anaïs Mitchell. Well-known for her feminist, political and fiercely independent voice.
